Shai Bazak, Consul General

001_Shai BazakShai Bazak was born and raised in Jerusalem. He served in several IDF combat units, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the Israel Open University, and a Master’s degree, from Bar Ilan University, in Public Administration.

 

Mr. Bazak has held many positions in Israeli government and the private sector. He served as media director and spokesperson for Benjamin Netanyahu when he was the leader of the opposition party (1994-1996) and during his first term as a prime minister (1996-1998). Mr. Bazak was the Consul General of Israel to Florida and Puerto Rico (1998-2000). He was very involved in the launching of the North American organization Nefesh B’nefesh, which promotes Aliyah to Israel, and he also spent time as a political journalist and strategic consultant.

Mr. Bazak was the Managing Director of a high-tech American private investment company in Israel--Old City Partners--and was also a lecturer of media and spokesmanship at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya (2008-2010). He also served on the committee charged with regulating commercial television and radio in Israel. During this same time he served on several boards for business companies and public organizations in Israel.

Mr. Bazak is a well known media analyst in Israel; he has also appeared on various public forums focusing on politics, public diplomacy and Israel-US relations.

Mr. Bazak began his post in November 2010. He currently resides in Boston with his wife, Anna, and their two-year old twin daughters--Raz and Noya.
